The research activity is dedicated to the study of the effect of genetic, nutritional and environmental factors on the performances, physic-chemical-sensorial-functional quality of the animal products derived from rabbit, chicken, quail and other animal species comprised within the SSD AGR/20.
Current research is mainly devoted towards the study of alternative feedstuffs for poultry and rabbit species, aiming at reducing the environmental impact and improving the sustainability of animal husbandry. These feed ingredients must also guarantee satisfactory production performance and animal health status, and ensure the quality of derived products (meat/eggs), intended for human consumption.
Another current research topic is the study of the impact of heat stress in meat rabbits, highlighting possible breeding, feeding and genetic strategies to improve their resilience and thus their performance, health status and final product quality.
With a view to the future, research activity may however also embrace other topics relevant to the SSD AGR/20, thus including laboratory animals, pets and wildlife.
The scientific production consists of more than 130 publications including: 1 doctoral thesis in Animal Science, 1 book chapter, 76 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and more than 55 publications at proceedings of national and international conferences, including 2 invited main lectures at two international conferences

Scopus profile (updated the 12/03/2024): Author ID: 55356322100: 76 publications, 2081 citations in 1413 documents, h-index: 24
