Profilo personale: Leonel Ferreira Helena

Project Officer at Etifor, Helena is specialized in assessing supply chains of commodities at risk of deforestation, and is the EMMA4U project coordinator.

She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Science Teaching from the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and a Master’s degree in Sustainable Tropical Forestry from the University of Padova and University of Copenhagen. Helena supports companies in mapping supply chains, tracing commodities, assessing risks and impacts on nature, and developing strategies for achieving deforestation-free supply chains. Helena has years of experience in monitoring policies implementation in Brazil, and has worked alonside local and indigenous communities on community-based forest management and fostering sustainable forest-based economies.
