The course aims at the comprehension of characteristics, processes,
functioning, and factors characterizing a watercourse as to be able
to better manage it and to define river restoration projects.
1) Understanding the morphological characteristics of a channel;
2) Characterizing the morphological unit of a mountain stream and a river, following its own development and morphodynamic;
3) Analyzing and quantifying processes and sediment dynamics along a watercourse (erosion, transport, deposition);
4) Detecting characteristics, role, dynamics, and management of the riparian vegetation, fluvial islands, and fluvial wood;
5) Understanding the mutual interaction among the different components and processes;
6) Understanding the impact of human pressure and natural disturbances on the watercourses;
7) Defining river restoration activity.
