The course aims at providing knowledge and competences on the basic research planning techniques. At the end of the course students will be able to sketch out a survey design, from the problem definition and the conception to the results analysis, both qualitative and quantitative.
The treatment will be based on examples, focus on application, and dispense with the technical details.
The course will cover many topics, among which including: qualitative analysis, question wording, interview techniques, stakeholder analysis, participatory approaches, descriptive statistics and visual display of information, statistical inference, sampling design.
The focus is on the design phase of a survey... it means that it is not a course on statistics!
